Transformative Teacher Leadership

Effective facilitation is not an innate talent, but a skill that can be learned. The first cohort of Transformative Teacher Leaders attended a two day institute in August 2013.  This professional learning institute was developed to engage teacher as leaders who would begin by transforming themselves to transform others.

Teacher Leadership Practicum
Walking the Talk

Several members of the initial cohort have elected to participate in a year long practicum to continue to refine and practice their leadership skills.  This work will culminate in their development of a professional online presence and sharing of their own Capstone Projects.

In the last practicum session, teachers began to build their site using Weebly, a free website creation tool.  One teacher remarked, "This would be a great way for students to share their projects."   This is a great example of the notion of "parallel practices", teachers engaged in their own learning see technology as a tool for teaching students.
