Integration was a critical factor of my lesson design. District mandated curricula had to remain as the core context of my lessons and learning but I could infuse art or engineering to deepen learning when I could find ties or connections. For example, when the featured story in our Language Arts curriculum was the fictional text, "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" there was a perfect tie to learning about the structure and engineering of bridges.
Looking for the opportunities takes time, patience and collaboration but the rewards outweigh the efforts.
Check out inspiring ideas, lessons and how-to's from the links below. These links support my lesson design. Educators are great at begging, borrowing, and using ideas from other educators that work. Don't waste valuable time reinventing a lesson if others have done that work already. Take what others provide and adjust as needed.
