The textbook, activities, lessons and assessments in this unit are all derived from the Common Core Standards that are listed to the left.
In Pre Calculus, we need to do much work with the Unit Circle before we can see how it relates to the function and periodicity.
We also use the 8 Mathematical Practices to guide instruction. These are very important as they are used from K through 12 to guide instruction. These practices, when used appropriately can not only help students in their current Mathematics class but also help students prepare for life after high school. These 8 standards correspond with Problem Based Learning, the 4 C's and other 21st Century skills.
Not every person needs Pre Calculus for their career, but everyone will have problems to solve in their life. Exercising the brain to make sense of the problem, break it into parts, understand what it is about, and then persevere to solve the problem, will help students in their future endeavors.
