Lessons From Gaming

Below you will find TED talks and useful links about different areas related to gaming and education.

Tom Chatfield discusses the power of virtuality, motivating, and transfixing in relation to virtual games.  He looks at characteristics of gaming and begins to set the state for the  implications this might have on education. He discusses emotional rewards, wanting, liking, ambition, delight and how they come together to make meaningful engagement.  He discusses reward schedules, and how that plays a large role in gaming.
Jane McGonigal, discusses how games can change the world in real life applications. She talks about why games are essential to the future. She discusses the "epic win," intense concentration, and characteristics gamers possess that are difficult to come by. These characteristics that she mentions, have large implications in the world of academia.
