TPACK

Picture
Before learning of the TPACK model, I found myself using technology for the sake of using technology in the classroom. During my studies, we were told to create a 21st century learning environment. So naturally, in my head, I thought technology = 21st century learning. The TPACK model allowed me to understand how I could best integrate technology purposefully into my classroom. The TPACK model is focused on 3 key areas in the classroom:
  • Pedagogical Knowledge
    • the method of how you teach
  •  Content Knowledge
    • an understanding of the curriculum you teach
  •  Technological Knowledge
    • integrating technology successfully in a way that engages students
By considering these 3 key areas in the classroom, I was able to move from simply substituting their learning to redefining their learning.
