Linked on this page are suggestions for lessons that can help students develop a growth mindset and believe that the choices they make while performing mathematics has an impact.

Some of these lessons are adapted from or inspired by the amazing work of other educators.
Part of instilling agency in students is modeling it as educators. These lessons can and should be adapted to your circumstances. Show students the power of choice by making your own adaptations!

Lesson Example #1
This task has been adapted for a middle school class from Dan Meyer's original task. Click the image to see the original on Dan's blog. Check out my adapted lesson plan on the right

Lesson Example #2
This task was developed in collaboration with other educators in my district. In this task, the choices students make directly impact the math they perform later in the task. This flexibility promotes creativity and communication within collaborative groups.
