Project Based Learning

"learning by doing"
Picture
While Project Based Learning has been recently adopted on a large and very public scale, it is not a new concept.  John Dewey, long ago, promoted the concept of "learning by doing."  He believed that the teacher should act as a guide to students in their learning.

In this model students gain knowledge and then apply that knowledge to solve real world problems.

Centers can be designed to allow small groups to work together to gain content knowledge, to process that knowledge and then create an artifact that allows them to share the knowledge they have worked to gain.
