Driving Question and Inspiration
The question driving the transformation of my thought and practice has centered on vocabulary instruction for English Language Learner Students (ELLs). My inspiration is my students. My school is approximately 80% ELLs and I teach Kindergarten so they are learning social English speaking skills as well as the academic vocabulary for each subject. I see my classroom changing to a new model where students acquire a deep understanding of the words they need for comprehension of text and content. The means to this end will be my use of technology tools and lesson design that promotes 21st century skills. I have iPads so I will use them, but I hope to use them in new and innovative ways to meet the needs of my inspirational students.
