TPACK

Picture
TPACK stands for Technological, Pedagogical Content Knowledge and was developed by Punya Mishra and Matthew J. Koehler. The TPACK models reminds teachers that we have three different types of knowledge when designing lessons for our students. There is overlap between all three areas of knowledge as you can see in the graphic above. A teacher who implements technology in their classroom should incorporate more than one of these knowledge types into designing their lessons. Technology should not be treated as a separate entity in the classroom and should be blended seamlessly into our classrooms. Our students are becoming more and more  comfortable with technology and the novelty of using the computers has worn off. We need to be sure as educators that we are utilizing this powerful technology to enhance the learning in our classrooms and create learning experiences that were never possible before the integration of technology.
