Teacher Librarians provide an irreplaceable role in the assessment phase of a project.  Collaboratively setting expectations with the classroom teacher for the desired outcome of the finished product allows for multiple perspectives of student understanding of the skills taught, rather than just that of the classroom teacher. The TL approaches the assessment from the lens of technology, research strategies, and selection of materials while the classroom teacher, who is the expert in the subject area, looks at the student understanding of the subject content.
As a project is carried out, teacher librarians are constantly performing formative assessments as they advise students on research strategies and critical thinking skills.  Here are some informative videos on how a teacher librarian plays a major role in the research and the assessment process...
