Next Steps |
I am amazed at how much I have learned in this program. I have grown as an educator and improved my practice as an academic specialist. From the format of iCares, to blogging to creating websites; these skills will transfer and improve my career as a teacher and leader. This program does not tell the answer but teaches you how to find your own answers.
I am a better educator because of this program. |
Next year...
As an academic specialist, I am in a unique position to take my capstone project and Touro learning to a bigger audience. I get to work with teachers in their classroom and in professional development to improve teaching and learning. I was in the Touro program not only for me but for the other teachers at my site. I might not need to learn about student blogging...I don't have any students, but I know there are teachers at my site that are interested in student blogging. I was here for them. This program has given me so many more tools to share with my staff.
My immediate next steps at my site are:
My immediate next steps at my site are:
- Adding Digital Citizenship to our school BEST rules and program.
- Introducing the technology standards to the staff.
- Training teachers on Google Classroom, which will be new this year.
- Using this capstone website to Increase Student Talk.
- Creating a Techie Tuesday meeting to help teachers who want to become more tech savvy.
- Modeling a new piece of technology (Google form, Google add-ons, flipped learning, blog responses etc.) at staff meetings.
Touro University- Thank you to all of my amazing professors Dr. Helen Hawley, Breanna Curtis, Scott Marsden, Jane Gould, Roger Pence and Dr. Pamela Redmond. Cohort 11- Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so grateful for your feedback and friendship. I spent many nights looking at that screen to the left, and I am happy to have spent them with such a great group of people. I can't wait to see you outside of your "Hollywood Squares" box...out in the real world. The laughs, technical difficulties, mics that stayed on, dogs barking, babies born (Joe) and...my nosy kid in the background, all added to an amazing experience. I am glad we took this journey together.
Canyon Oaks Elementary School- Thank you for letting me use you as my research project/guinea pig. Thank you to teachers, staff, and administration for supporting me through this program. Family & Friends- Thanks for putting the kid to bed, leaving me alone at the computer, doing the dishes and listening to me vent. |
