Design Process

Picture
Action research was conducted to determine the impact of front loading vocabulary on the  quality and quantity of academic discourse during paired discussions. Action research involves everyone affected by the problem, and it aims to find solutions that actually work in the real world. It's a way of learning by doing and continuously improving Action research is a process often conducted in education. It begins with identifying a problem. For example in my action research, the problem was that students weren't engaging in quality talk.  Next, the researcher will investigate the root causes of the problem to help find a solution. I began to wonder if lack of vocabulary was hindering quality talk among students. I sought out to investigate if providing students with vocabulary prior to students would get my students talking more about academic content. A sample  of 8 students participated in this study. Students were divided equally half male and half female. Half of the students were native Spanish were native Spanish speakers and the other half were Spanish speakers.

S.I.T.E. Model

Picture

The S.I.T.E. model in education, which stands for Student-Centered, Inquiry-Based, Technology-Enabled learning, is a progressive approach to teaching and learning. At its core, this model emphasizes placing the student at the center of the educational experience. It encourages active engagement and exploration through inquiry-based methods, where students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate, and discover knowledge independently. Technology plays a vital role in this model by enabling access to a wealth of resources and tools, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the learning process. The S.I.T.E. model seeks to create a dynamic and adaptive learning environment that empowers students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners, better preparing them for the challenges of the modern world. This study included components of the site model.

Logo Making

I had a great experience taking on the roll of a graphic designer! I had the exciting opportunity to create a logo that symbolizes communication and dialogue in two languages. To encapsulate this concept, I envisioned a simple yet powerful design. I merged two speech bubbles, each representing a different language and symbolizing the connection and exchange of ideas. It was a rewarding experience to create a visual representation that celebrates the beauty of multilingualism and highlights the significance of effective communication in our interconnected world.
