Building 21st Century Skills

In the 21st century classroom, the use of multimedia tools to engage and teach is paramount. Especially important is leveraging the use of video both as a tool for teaching and as a tool for students to support their ability to research and analyze information. Despite the access to multimedia sources via the internet, when it comes to research and analysis, students still rely primarily on print sources to support their research process. While students are comfortable viewing video as a supplemental learning tool, they lack the skills necessary to critically analyze video content in the same way they are able to deeply analyze text. To build the skills that students need to compete in the modern world’s global economy, students need to be able to search and ask questions to find the information that they need.
