The framework for 21st century learning provides a helpful model for creating curriculum, lessons, and projects that not only teach academic content, but also help students acquire the various skills they will need to be successful in college and life, including information, media, and technology skills. 

The use of digital tools to present information and knowledge supports students' development in the following three ways:
