ISTE* National Educational Technology Standards (NETS)
The ISTE's NETS for Teachers, specifically numbers 1-3, are much like choreographer's notes on the dance of facilitating tech infused learning:
In order to facilitate and inspire learning, one must both model creative digital outcomes and design learning experiences that integrate the technology students are expected to successfully employ while undertaking tasks outlined by the Common Core State Standards.
The ISTE's NETS for Students, outline the skills necessary for students to "learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly global and digital world." The first and last are key to everything in-between:
1. Creativity and Innovation: Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.
a. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
and
6. Technology Operations and Concepts: Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
d. Transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies.
Technology is in constant evolution and therefore a teacher's job is to focus on the skills attributed to adaptability more than any others.
