A 21st Century Classroom Cowboy

How can technology help increase engagement in a 21st century classroom?

I have been on a quest to transform my student learning environment into a 21st Century Classroom. My goal was to transform my AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class into a project based learning environment so that it would be more relevant to the 21st century learner.

Incorporating 21st Century technology tools and applications into AVID strategies has always intrigued me.  Why has AVID not been on board with technology?  Would engagement and retention be higher with the infusion of blogging, skyping, and interactive websites?  Could the use of technology enhance all of the AVID strategies and help with engagement and retention of concepts in the classroom?  I want to be a part of the change that merges technology with AVID strategies so that they are relevant to the 21st century learner.  You will find ideas of how to do this throughout my capstone project.   But first let's hear from some students about what they like about technology in the classroom...
