21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness

My capstone uses the 4 C's model, which stands for Communication, Collaboration, Critical thinking, and Creativity. My students had to use all of these skills in order to create their Cesar Chavez biography, oral presentation; as well as in creating their animal report and goole slide presentation. Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity are very important skills to have in the 21st century. Employers are now looking for employees that are innovative and can think outside of the box. They must also be able to communicate clearly and work well with others. All of these skills are essential and must be taught to students so they can be better prepared for the workforce.

The four C's are crucial for 21st century learning.
  1. Communication: Sharing thoughts, questions, ideas, and solutions
  2. Collaboration: Working together to reach a goal. Putting talent, expertise, and smarts to work
  3. Critical thinking: Looking at problems in a new way and linking learning across subjects and diciplines
  4. Creativity: Trying new approaches to get things done equals innovation and invention
