TPACK
TPACK seemed like this crazy acronym that I was never going to understand. The first time I was told about it I was given this super long scientific paper to read that was supposed to explain it. To be completely honest, I got lost about four sentences in and gave up on reading it. That was the terrible beginning of my TPACK journey.
It wasn't until I sat down and watched a couple of YouTube videos on TPACK that I really began to understand what it was. Now it is an integral part of my planning process. Being the visual person that I am, I thought I would help walk you through my TPACK journey with some pictures, comics, videos and diagrams. |
TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. In simple terms it is the combination of teaching skills, content, and technology to create dynamic and relevant curriculum for 21st century learners.
So what does this have to do with you? Remember that new SmartBoard that all the schools bought a couple years ago? That iPad lab that's sitting in it's cart collecting dust? That push from your principal to use more technology in your classroom? CUE conference? TPACK helps you take all of these devices and use them to support and aid your curriculum. Take a look at this list to get a better sense of TPACK and how it can help your planning. |
