Fact: E-learning is here to stay, with or without COVID-19, and it is crucial to address the digital divide now. Fact: Stress can cause feelings of fear, anger, sadness, and worry. Fact: When comparing a student's performance in fall 2020 to performance from fall 2019, students in grades 3-8 preformed similarly in reading to same-grade students in fall 2019. However, the math achievement of students in 2020 was about 5 to 10 percentile points lower compared to same-grade students the prior year. (Brookings Institute, 2020) Fact: Instruction and support for students with learning and physical disabilities are not as easily transferred to the internet, and school systems and families are struggling to meet the challenge.
