Support and Next Steps

Picture
I am happy to have completed those “next steps” that were only a dream two years ago.  At that time I had been teaching ten years and I knew it was time for me to go back to school and continue with my professional growth.  The Innovative Learning program was exactly what I was looking for: a “hands-on” program that focused on learning through doing rather than lecturing.

I loved that fact that we were able to participate as students (not teachers) in Project based Learning and Flipped instruction.   Many of the things I had heard about and wanted to experience became a reality though the Touro program.

What's Next?

Having completed the Innovative Learning program is a great accomplishment but it was not by any means the end.  It was one more (big) step on my learning journey.   In fact, knowing that education is always evolving and technology is continuously changing, makes me realize that as long as I’m teaching I need to continue to evolve as well.
Fortunately, now that I’m done with the master’s program, I can dedicate more time to update the content of my classes, improve my pedagogy, and explore some of the digital tools I did not have the opportunity to use before.
I am committed to continue using TPACK as the foundation for my teaching and to share with others what I’ve learned from my Innovative journey.
A more long term goal for me is to increase my presence and my roll as a second language teacher through innovative pedagogies and technologies that can truly enhance learning and promote language acquisition.

¡Gracias!

Enrolling in a master's program while working full time and having a family is not an easy task.   In fact, it is something that cannot be done unless one has the support from those closest to us.  They are the ones who, in one way or the other, might be affected by our busy schedules. In my case it was my family.   They are the ones who encouraged me to embark on this journey.   They are the ones who had to do some extra cleaning and cooking around the house while I was doing homework and typing my blogs.   Their unconditional love and support made ALL the difference in my journey!

I loved the way Touro designed the Innovative Learning program.   It was created to support teachers keeping in mind our busy lives. Touro's flexibility and encouragement was priceless.
Thank you!
