     What content are you teaching? How are you engaging your students and what technological resources are you using to allow those students to access the content and present their learnings?

     TPACK is a teaching concept that integrates a blending of technological, pedagogical and content knowledge.  It is a framework that explains the kind of effective pedagogy a teacher needs in order to technologically enhance student learning.
     Technological Knowledge (TK) is the knowledge educators have about technology, software, how to use a computer applications in the classroom.  Technology Knowledge (TK) refers to teaching students how to use technology and incorporating and using the applications for deeper learning.  TK refers to introducing new technological ways to engage students by incorporating hardware or software into the lesson activities.  The TPK is the knowledge we have about how to access technology that will help us teach the learning and the TCK refers to understanding how to use the technology that will help the student access the content.
     Pedagogical knowledge (PK) refers to the art of teaching or the methods the teacher uses to engage and transfer knowledge. PK applies to every classroom; it is a generic knowledge about teaching students in general.  Classroom management, lesson planning and assessing for learning are considered general pedagogical practices.
      Pedagogical content knowledge (CK) is the specific knowledge we have about a particular subject and the knowledge we have about how we will impart that content. Pedagogical Content Knowledge would include tier 2 and tier 3 vocabulary and concepts, which are more specific, descriptive and precise language to the subject area. This is content specific knowledge.
     TPACK is when all of the core areas are blended together that great teaching occurs; when the teacher understands how to blend that Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge together in context.  There is a sweet spot or a perfect blend, a perfect combination, an integration of TK, PK and CK for effective, exemplary teaching to occur.  Expert teaching occurs when the education integrates the three components together. The diagram below illustrates that the sweet spot occurs at the center of the interaction of these areas of knowledge.
     One of the most exciting features about launching PBL in the classroom is the teacher can incorporate a variety of forms of technology to boost student learning, engagement and assessment. When I flip a classroom, I can direct the student to watch portions of a clip, have them comment on or answer polling or discussion questions then assess their learning at the end of the assignment.  Zaption, Nearpod, Padlet, and Educreations, for example are fun and engaging tools to incorporate into lessons.  Students can explore their learning or creatively share and present their content knowledge using a variety of technological methods.
