21st Century Learning

.
.
The Project Based Learning(PBL) Unit implemented in this study was designed in alignment with the Gold Standard PBL components identified by the PBL Works Organization. The components laid out within these standards are meant to ensure that the projects students engage in are challenging, inquiry based, and relevant. Beyond that, the Gold Standard for PBL also identifies decision making and revision/reflection as key components of a successful Project Based Learning Unit.

The implementation of a PBL Unit fosters students' development in the 21st century skills that are sought after in today's job market. Students must work together in an inquiry based project and create a product that is relevant to their life. This requires advanced collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy. Skills that are not generally emphasized in teacher-centered methodologies.
