Rubrics and other measures for Assessing Academic Conversation

Rubrics are essential for identifying what level students are performing as they discuss collaboratively. Academic Conversations rely on certain skills that students need in order to collaborate more purposefully. Since students are not putting anything on paper, it's important to assess students throughout their conversations as they take part in them organically and unscripted. The following rubric was used to assess student's academic conversation skills.

Student feedback is important to get a full picture of where students are at when collaborating with each other. If they do not feel like they are actually improving on their collaboration skills then they are losing the value to such use of technology or the skills in general. Student's assessed themselves and their partners on how they felt working together collaboratively using the following rubrics.
