I am not sure where my research will lead.  I do know that more research is needed in order to find a balancing point between traditional and real-world problems on assessments.  This is an important balancing point for what is most effective in preparing students for the high stakes high school tests, but also in how many real-world problems should be applied so that students maintain a positive outlook on applying mathematics to real world concepts.  In addition to continued research, I would like to see real-world problems applied to district-level common assessments.  In the past, our district has done common assessments for Math 1, 2 & 3 courses.  In the last few years, they have gone away from this practice.  However, if this is done again, then I would like the district leadership that creates these assessments to include real-world problems.  If these are included on district-wide mathematics final assessments, then more individual teachers will also begin to incorporate them into their lessons to prepare students for the end of semester final exams.

Thank you to my family and friends for all of your support throughout this last year.  Your support has meant so much to me.  I hope to instill the same curiosity and life-long love for learning that I embraced throughout this program in my own children and my students.   I will be an example as I continue to show interest in learning more each day.
