TPACK

Picture
TPACK is the integration of three major components when teaching successful:
  • Technological Knowledge
    • This is not simplify about knowing technology.  It is also not just having computers in the classroom.  Instead it is about using technology to increase student learning.  In addition, technological knowledge is also about being able to adapt to changing technologies and continue to integrate new and innovative technologies to support and increase student learning.
  • Pedagogical Knowledge
    • Pedagogy are the teaching practices that an educator utilizes in their classroom.  This is how an educator uses instructional materials to disseminate knowledge to students.  Pedagogy is used in various forms for all subject areas and helps to engage and promote learning in the classroom.
  • Content Knowledge
    • This is the teacher's mastery of the content being taught.  This is the information that is passed to students through a specific subject matter or grade level.  Educators that have deep understanding of their content can help to support students and guide them through the content in many different ways.

These three components and how they intertwine will look different at each grade level and in different subject areas.  However, keeping these components in mind, using them all effectively, and in a balanced manner while planning and while teaching is what leads to successful learning for students.
