21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness

For our students to compete in today's world, we as teachers must prepare them for the 21st century and all its demands.  Just like what Daniel Pink stated in his book, A Whole New Mind, other countries such as India and in Southeast Asia are already getting their students ready for the 21st century.  Their students are learning math and science at a faster rate compared here in America that we would be doing our own students a disfavor by not getting them ready too for the 21st century and getting them ready to be successful in the future.  We must teach our students to use more of their right-side of their brain to foster more critical thinking, ingenuity, and collaboration.  As Daniel Pink said, "The future belongs to a different kind of person with a different kind of mind: artists, inventors, storytellers-creative and holistic “right-brain” thinkers whose abilities mark the fault line between who gets ahead and who doesn’t."  The best way to reach this goal is to teach our students how to use technology within our classrooms with purpose to prepare them for the demands of the 21st century and beyond.
