This is my HOME PAGE on www.Edmodo.com where the Dashboard shows me immediately the latest reflection posts and responses ("replies") between students. As you can see on the left side of this screenshot, you can create several Small Groups.

ASSESSMENT

Picture
What I love about Edmodo is that the students are interactively communicating within a teacher- and peer-monitored online learning environment that can occur during, before, and after the school day anywhere and on any device!

Picture
Another fabulous aspect about Edmodo: Parents can join the class group to monitor their child's activity as well as post comments and compliments, too, extending this lesson beyond the classroom and into the community.  See below for how parents can join Edmodo.

Below is a sample of me teaching how to blog

Brief overview of above screencast

Picture
This screenshot is an example of an online threaded-discussion on Edmodo.com among students. This first box from the top shows James' personal reflection with two connected responses ("Replies") from other students, Junior and Allison. The next box below, which is separated from the box above shows a new personal reflection from David -- ready for a response/reply from other students. Note: Allison's reply prods James for deeper critical thinking.

The A-B-C's of How To . . .

A. Create a lesson using the TPACK template.
B. Create your own Edmodo account; then, set-up a Classroom
Group for students and parents to join using the "Group Code."
Picture
C. Create your own ClassDojo account to help students build
    capacity in self-management and self-awareness.
