How Can You Do IT?

In my classes, I have seen more and more of my students becoming passive learners. They wait for me to impart knowledge. When they want to know a fact, they google it. They learn it briefly, then move on.

There seemed to be no depth, no deeper questioning, no real understanding.

I did notice, however, that the students who asked more in depth questions and the students who challenged me tended to do better overall. I wondered, was there a connection between the questioning spirit and the greater academic success.

Hence, the Quality Question Club.

I envisioned the Quality Question Club (QQ CLub) as a way to change my classroom environment so that it promoted more active participation. I wanted the students to ask more questions, go deeper, and seek new understandings.

I found success.
