Assessing Personalized LearningThe study attempted to increase students’ math skills related to fractions using math rotations and iPads to personalize learning.
After implementing personalized learning and technology into my classroom, I realized that it was quite difficult to assess. I decided I would focus on a few areas in order to track student learning growth.
Apps with Immediate FeedbackSome math apps I use that provide students with immediate feedback are Khan Academy, Zap Zap Fractions, Xtra Math, Math Fight, etc. Having immediate feedback is great for students to find out right away if they got an answer right or wrong. You can read up on these apps on my Learn More - Lessons section of my page.
Also, some math apps that a teacher can track student progress are Xtra Math & Khan Academy. Student AttitudeI gave out a survey before and after implementing technology & math rotations into my classroom. As you can see in the graph below, my students were very excited to be using technology, and their attitude toward learning improved!
Writing Assessment ScoresAlong with the attitude survey, I assessed students specifically on their fraction skills before and after I implemented using math apps on the iPad. As you can see in the data below, their skills did not change drastically, but they did remain consistent!
