Serving up TPACK

TPACK stands for Technological, Pedagogical, And Content Knowledge skills that we want all teachers to have. Just as in tennis, you are not always going to be making contact in your "sweet spot", the area in which all of these three knowledge domains intersect, but as reflective teachers, we should always be looking for ways to increase the number of times we do! I have found that looking back at my teaching over the past three years, through videos I have made, helps me to see times when I had a component missing in my lesson or unit, and times when I...hit the sweet spot! Watch these short Youtube videos below to learn more about TPACK.

What happens when there is a disconnect between what a teacher knows, their subject content knowledge, and what a teacher knows about "teaching" those skills or content knowledge sets? Below is an excerpt from one of my favorite movies, "A Beautiful Mind".  In this scene,
Russell Crowe demonstrates perfectly the reason why you want your teachers to have TPACK.
