Vocabulary is a Major Predictor of Student Success.

So states Chung (2012) (citing August, Carlo, Dressler, & Snow, 2005).  
What is not as clear is which strategies are most successful for increasing student vocabulary. Here, technology was integrated with vocabulary lessons and the results assessed.

Efficacy of Multi-Stratigic Vocabulary Instruction for English Language Learning

Applying teaching strategies that included technology provided no conclusive results, however this teacher noted that engagement and active participation in vocabulary activities increased significantly.  As new strategies are being applied and refined, student engagement continues to be high.  With that comes more value for language and the acquisition of vocabulary that insures student success.
