Social Emotional Learning (SEL), the Key to
Motivation and Student Growth

SEL is nothing new, it summarizes what inspiring teachers do everyday! Integrating the social and emotional needs of our students into our instruction has the power to change lives, improve academics, and create an inspiring classroom culture.

As educators we are bound by the requirement to teach the whole child, this includes addressing issues of equity brought on by poverty, lack of resources, trauma and other challenges our students face. These tools can help our students emerge smarter and better prepared to face 21st century challenges.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) drastically affects the wellness of our students.  This translates into poor outcomes in the classroom and in adulthood. As teachers we can make a huge difference in our students' lives, through our interactions and commitment to serving the whole child.
