What PBL looks like

These are links to the entry event that some teachers at New Tech High School have filmed during their class.  Though every teacher has his or her own style, these are great examples of how to roll out a project on the first day to get students bought in to what they are about to spend the next few weeks on.

English

Karen Provenza rolls out a project to her 9th grade English class that combines The Odyssey and comic books.  Through the 28 minute video, you can see how Karen interacts with her students and reinforces her expectations for the class while conducting PBL.

U.S. History

This 5 minute video of a project for U.S. History from Stephen Federico gets the attention of the students right away and sets the tone for the entire project.

Biology

Christie Jouaneh uses a funny clip to introduce her project called "Testing your patients" in her biology class.  This 17 minute video exemplifies student engagement and shows a way to excite the class about a project with sources other than a letter as an entry document.
