21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness

In the 21st century, we expect our students to graduate prepared for college or a career.  We must begin this preparation as early as kindergarten by teaching and modeling 21st century skills such as:
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity and Innovation
  • Citizenship
  • Character
In my project, these skills are taught and modeled as educators, students, families, and communities communicate and collaborate innovatively with one another to improve early literacy.  While foundational reading skills are a primary focus of my project, some of the program's most rewarding outcomes are in this area of 21st century skills.
