What's Next?

As my participation in the Innovative Learning Program comes to an end, I am feeling a sense of accomplishment and "sorrow,"; as I have enjoyed the program tremendously and have made several new friends that I hope to stay in touch with. However, I am experiencing the excitement and a bit of blissfulness;as I am embarking on many new experiences within the classroom and school site. I am currently transforming my class to form a computer lap, iPad/table station, sensory room, and learning center for me current and new students that will be arriving in the next few weeks while this cohort comes to a close. I am confident that I have the skills, knowledge, and a "boatload" of tools to implement into future lesson plans, delivery of instruction.  Additionally, to share with my colleagues, students, parents, administrators, and other stakeholders while there will most likely be changes from year to year, as the demographics of students in my classroom change. I am fortunate that most of most students stay with me for a period of seven to eight years. I foresee they will have enough 21st-century, innovative, and technological skills to carry with them as they embark on their post-secondary journey.

Future Plans

Currently, I possess a Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, and will be adding Innovative Learning to my academic portfolio. It is my desire and plans to obtain an administrative position that will utilize my skills, professional experience, and coursework at a site or district level.

My ideal position would be to serve as a Special Education Program Coordinator. As an administrator I plan to provide support and professional development opportunities for staff members, such training will include innovative learning and the used of technological devices and innovative strategies to support instruction and education for all students.

I plan to be an example to my students by continuing to be a life-long learner. However, in the meantime, I will be taking a break from graduate studies and professional development and spending time with my husband while traveling during extended school breaks and holidays. We hope to relocate to the Pacific Northwest to be close to family. My daughter is expecting her first child in the spring of 2020.

I am very appreciative of Napa Learns and their financial assistance toward the tuition cost of the Innovative Learning Program. Additionally, for providing outstanding professional development opportunities for teachers throughout Napa County. Without the support of Napa Learns, I would not be able to participate and complete the Innovative Learning Program at Touro University. Lastly, thank you for extending this support for teachers who work for surrounding districts within Napa County (i.e., St. Helena Unified, others).

Thank you to Touro University, its staff, instructors, and the support of Disability Services. I have been fortunate to obtain two degrees with Touro University (Innovative Learning and Educational Leadership). The Instructors are outstanding professionals who have gone above and beyond to ensure that as a student with a disability were able to participate fully.
I am confident that the skills and knowledge I have acquired from both programs will allow me to advance as an educator and future administrator. Lastly, thank you for my students, who will significantly benefit from my participation in your programs.
