Standards and Competencies

Picture
The Common Core State Standards that I addressed in my study during the two rounds of research while gathering my data were the standards that I felt most would to prepare my students as much as possible for 21st century skills and career readiness. All of their work aligned together by incorporating the 4C's (communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking). Whenever students were asked to read, speak or write in lessons or activities they were expected to meet the standard and represent knowledge of that standard in ways such as producing a project collaboratively by using visual aides.

I also used many Technology standards appropriate for first and second graders that focused primarily on beginner and basic operations of an iPad. Students learned how to be digital citizens, how to properly and respectfully handle equipment, research online and create projects using approved web 2.0 tools.
