Assess Progress Using Surveys
During this process it is important to ask students about their progress and their experience with using devices in the classroom. Some may feel techonlogy may be too hard for them to juggle because their confidence in typing may not be to par. However, other students might be super savvy with their device and can vouche for the success of the BYOD program.
Another population you need to check in with are the parents. It's interesting to hear what they say about their student's progress in using a device, or they may say that school is encouraging unplanned screen time to their student's allowance of screen time. The data is key to undersand the results of the school site's community. Using an online survey such as Google Forms or Survey Monkey is an effective way to ask your school their feedback on BYOD. Tailor your questions to suit your specific site, for example: How many minutes a day are you using technology in your classroom? Are students bringing their devices to school everyday?
